Tens Of Thousands Of Ohioans Told To Repay Unemployment

VITALIL VODOLAZSKYL, SHUTTERSTOCK.COM

The State of Ohio borrowed more than $3 billion from the federal government to prop up its cash-strapped unemployment benefits. This news comes a week after it is learned that nearly 24,000 Ohioans were asked to pay back the unemployment benefits they received.

Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss why these Ohioans are getting notice to repay the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services is Eye on Ohio reporter Cid Standifer. We also talk with Matt Regan and Nick Wilkerson about their ordeal waiting for unemployment insurance. And we ask Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown about the delays in disbursements.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
