Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine gave his coronavirus briefing at the Cintas Center at Cincinnati's Xavier University March 18. The center is now functioning as a mass vaccination site.

Governor Mike DeWine joins WVXU's Cincinnati Edition live at noon Tuesday.

The Republican's return to the show comes less than a week after the Ohio legislature, dominated by lawmakers from his own party, voted to override the governor's veto of Senate Bill 22. That legislation weakens the authority of a governor's orders and emergencies, a particularly contentious issue within the GOP during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the state's fight against the virus is ongoing. More mass vaccination sites are opening and all Ohioans aged 16 or older are now eligible to sign up.

The urgency is heightened as the state records a significant increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases involving a more easily transmissible variant of the virus.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
