Internationally renowned American artist Hunt Slonem currently has a one-man show on exhibit at the Miller Gallery in Hyde Park. His pieces can be found in permanent collections at more than 100 museums and privately by such notables as Jimmy Fallon, Bill & Hillary Clinton, Alan Dershowitz and others. He visited our studio while in town to discuss his work and this exhibit with our Jane Durrell.
There is often a vague distinction between the art of the tattoo and that of more 'traditional' art - the kind that you might find hanging on a gallery wall. Now, thanks to the folks at Rock Paper Scissors and Nightshade Ink, that distinction will be erased.
The current exhibition at the Contemporary Arts Center is called Buildering: Misbehaving the City, and as Curator Steven Matijcio tells Jane Durrell, this multi-artist collection spotlights the unsanctioned use of architecture – fusing the words “building” and “bouldering” into a rapidly growing movement that reformulates how we live our cities.
