Baseball fans eager to hear "play ball"

Reds fans lined up at Fountain Square today for an All Star Game promotion.  And with this warmer weather, they're anticipating baseball season, which begins four weeks from today with the Reds' Opening Day.

“Very excited, I think it’ll be a good season;  looking forward to it,” says Robert Braun of Madeira, who adds the fact that Cincinnati is hosting the All Star Game in July makes it even more exciting.  “It kind of brings the city together.  I think we’re all excited about it, and looking forward to a good time.”  Braun won a bobblehead from the Reds' Twitter vending machine.

MaryJo Petree of Cleves works downtown, and saw the baseball activity at Fountain Square.  She and a coworker went to investigate.  She says the All Star Game at Great American Ball Park in July will be good for the city.  “We haven’t had the All Star Game for years, and I feel like it will probably be a long time before they have it again,” she says.

Josh Maxwell of Dayton drove to Cincinnati specifically for a chance to win tickets.  “My 11 year old son has been begging me, asking me every day if I have All Star tickets yet for him, and this was just an opportunity,”  he says. Maxwell didn’t win tickets, but he did collect a baseball signed my Hall of Famer George Brett.

All Star Event tickets were among the prizes offered at the event.  The first pair of tickets to the game went to Julie Head of Northside.
