The Blues: 5.9.15 show

There's a mix of new and old, familiar and not so much so on this week's Blues show which airs on Saturday, May 9th at 11pm.  The show begins with "Speeding Blues" by Philip Gibbs along with Minneapolis musician Ken Valdez.  Then, Cincinnati favorite, The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band with lead vocalist Noah Hunt.  They'll be on stage at Huber Heights with Jonny Lang on June 24th, and they'll also be touring with Van Halen.

The second set starts off with Chicago's Cash Box Kings, then alto saxophonist Hank Crawford, Chet Baker and the great Eddie Jefferson.  Some of my favorite vocalists from back in the day are featured in the third set starting off with Leon Russell, Phoebe Snow and Laura Nyro, and finishing up with DC vocalist Eva Cassidy who passed away too soon in her singing career.

Two great guitarists bring this edition of The Blues to a close, Eric Clapton and Tommy Emmanuel.  Eric Clapton's playing in London this month with no other tour dates listed on his website.  Tommy Emmanuel hasn't listed any dates for a Cincinnati concert this fall.  Could be in the works though.
