The Cincinnati Shakespeare Company's new $17 million theater in Over-the-Rhine is ready for its debut.
A ribbon cutting is set for 6 p.m. Friday followed by open houses throughout the weekend.
The new 233-seat theater is on Elm Street adjacent to Washington Park.
According to the company:
The new facility is now complete and incorporates space for modern theatrical technology, increased seating capacity and lobby, expanded education and community outreach opportunities, as well as on-site production areas and administrative offices. The theatre will also become the "finale" of a planned "Classical Arts Corridor" connecting Music Hall, Memorial Hall, the School for Creative and Performing Arts, and Washington Park.
The first production in the theater's new home will be A Midsummer Night's Dream. It opens Sept. 8.
