Hamilton County Commission President Greg Hartmann says talks with the city about shared services are going well and he's optimistic.

He says a public meeting is being scheduled between the board, the mayor and Cincinnati Council's Major Transportation and Regional Cooperation Committee "to discuss opportunities for sharing and collaborating on services where we can achieve cost savings and improve efficiencies."

Fellow commissioner Todd Portune agrees, saying, "My hope is... that this can establish sort of a template process that we will then be able to take out to the other 48 jurisdictions in the county."

The meeting will likely be in May.

Also Wednesday, the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber released its 2015 legislative priorities. They too include a focus on shared services:

• a structurally-balanced, City of Cincinnati operating budget that encourages shared services and government collaboration, increases government efficiency and makes strong investments in basic public services and proven economic development initiatives.
