Covington toasts newest job creator

Kentucky is raising a glass to the newest company bringing jobs to the commonwealth. The Russian bottle decorating and packaging company is opening a manufacturing facility in Covington.

Westpack is investing nearly $4.5 million and creating 63 full-time jobs.

Kentucky Lt. Governor Jerry Abramson calls the announcement a "tremendous commitment."

"The reality is it's 63 families. It's men and women and family opportunities who will draw a paycheck; go to work each and everyday; have the benefits to provide for their family; have a chance to sit at the kitchen table  talk about what's going on with their kids at school. Sixty-three doesn't sound like a thousand or 1,500 (but) to those 63 individuals, it's extremely important," he says.

The company expects to begin production by the end of March. A spokesman says Kentucky residents will get first hiring priority.
