The Cincinnati Cyclones have a new head coach. The team says Niagara Falls, Ontario native Matt Macdonald will be the 8th head coach in club history.

He takes over for Ben Simon who left earlier this month to become Assistant Coach with the Toronto Marlies.

Macdonald spent parts of three seasons with the Cyclones before joining the coaching staff in 2012. He was also part of the team that won Cincinnati's first-ever Kelly Cup title in 2008.

The Cyclones open the 2014-2015 season at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday, October 25 when they host the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:30 p.m.
