Escape Rooms: Why All The Hype?

Provided
Lisa and David Spira have played more than 500 escape rooms in 10 countries.

Paying to be locked inside a windowless room doesn't sound all that fun. But add-in friends, the rush to beat the clock and chance to use, and show off, your problem-solving skills, and it becomes more obvious why more people each year are enjoying escape rooms.

In 2014, there were about two dozen escape room facilities in the United States. Today, there are more than 2,000, and their popularity continues to grow

All variations on a theme, escape rooms can be as basic as a series of puzzles and riddles players must solve to unlock a door. Or they can incorporate specific story-lines, complete with characters, costumes and hi-tech special effects to create at totally immersive experience.

Joining Cincinnati Edition to explore the world of escape rooms are Lisa and David Spira, who experience and write about them worldwide for their Room Escape Artist blog.
