There has been a pitched debate about a federal ban on evictions put in place last year due to COVID-19. Housing advocates and tenants who have hit hard times due to the pandemic say that the eviction stoppage is vital to keep people in their homes during an unprecedented health crisis. Landlords, however, say the ban is financially crippling.
Last week, Centers for Disease Control Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky extended the pandemic-related moratorium on evictions until the end of July. But that hasn't stopped evictions from taking place in some locations, including Hamilton County. A new decision from the U.S. Supreme Court issued June 29 could change that, however.
