Findlay Market parade takes a detour

The 95th Findlay Market Opening Day Parade will take a slight detour this year because of streetcar construction. At 12 noon Monday the first entry steps off from Findlay Market in Over the Rhine and heads south on Race Street.

Instead of going straight down Race, the parade will turn right on Liberty and left on Elm to Central Parkway. It will then go back to Race and proceed as normal to 5th Street.

Here is a map of the route.

There are nearly 200 parade entries this year including 18 marching bands, the Bockfest goat, Madcap Puppets and more.

  • Former Cincinnati Reds shortstop Dave Concepcion is the Grand Marshal
  • Teddy Kremer is the Honorary Grand Marshal (guest Reds batboy)
  • Reds greats George Foster and Joe Morgan are also in  the parade

Getting to the parade:

Streets around the Market from McMicken to Liberty and between Elm and Race will be closed beginning at 8:00 Monday morning. Beginning at 11:15am the parade route and cross streets will close.

Watch the parade and hang out at Washington Park:

The organization 3CDC is sponsoring an opening day celebration at Washington Park with food, live music and games. Organizers say they will have bleacher seating on the park's Music Hall Plaza. A giant LED screen will broadcast the game at 4:10.
