Fired NKU AD admits financial misconduct

Despite initially saying otherwise, Northern Kentucky University now says former Athletic Director Scott Eaton did improperly divert university funds for personal reasons.

Eaton was fired in March for having inappropriate relationships with four university employees and a student.

In a letter, President Geoffrey Mearns says once Eaton realized the extent of the university's investigation, his attorney acknowledged a pattern of financial misconduct. Mearns says Eaton admits he diverted $100-150,000 during the past eight years.

The case is now being turned over to federal investigators.
