Gov. Beshear touring commonwealth to celebrate KY's economic growth

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear is touring the commonwealth touting a top rating by Site Selection magazine. The award recognizes Kentucky as the top state for economic development projects per capita in 2014.

"Last year, Kentucky announced more than 350 new industry location and expansion projects," says Beshear. "Those 350 announcements are worth $3.7 billion in new business investment."

Beshear says that adds up to 15,000 new jobs as well. "That is the most business investment in one year that has ever happened in the commonwealth since we started keeping those figures thirty years ago."

Local Numbers Since 2008:

Boone County has announced 158 new and expansion projects, which are projected to create 8,600 jobs and $1.3 billion in new investment. Campbell County has announced 28 new and expansion projects, which are projected to create 450 jobs and $101 million in new investment. Kenton County has announced 59 new and expansion projects, which are projected to create more than 2,500 jobs and $192 million in new investment.
