Helping Feed At-Risk Kids During The Summer Months

Aug 9, 2016

During the school year, about eight out of ten kids are eligible for free and reduced school lunches; but each summer, tens of thousands of children in the Tri-State area are at risk for hunger.

Freestore Foodbank and Design Impact have teamed up to create innovative ways to feed hungry kids over the summer.

Freestore Foodbank and Design Impact teamed up to create Culinary Camp, a program whose goal is to make summer food programs more interesting and interactive. They launched UnPack’d, pop-up picnics that bring food to various parks around Hamilton County where kids gather.

Here to talk about Culinary Camp and UnPack’d, and how they are making a difference in our area, are Social Innovation Specialists at Design Impact, Caitlin Behle and Michelle Stawicki, and President and CEO of Freestore Foodbank, Kurt Reiber.
