Most of us are likely to know bees are more than just a stinging nuisance. But did you realize one out of every three mouthfuls of food we consume is dependent on pollination by honeybees?
This dependency has grown in the past century due to a development in beekeeping – the moveable bee-frame. This simple device made it easy for any farmer to produce honey for their own use, and its history lives right here in our region.
Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss the history of beekeeping and to talk about some current practices is Apiculturist at Miami University’s Ecology Research Center Alex Zomchek.
Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
