How Interfaith Dialogue Can Be Used To Respectfully Resolve Conflict And Encourage Discussion

Provided

As we see daily in news reports, religion and politics can be polarizing, with individuals becoming so emotionally attached to one side of an issue they become incapable of seeing any positive aspects in opposing views, or inconsistencies in their own beliefs. Interfaith dialogue is one tool being promoted to resolve conflicts. It encourages people to recognize their commonalities, and have reasoned, thoughtful discussions about their differences.

Joining us to explore the purpose and process of interfaith dialogue are Metropolitan Area Religious Coalition of Cincinnati President, Rabbi Margaret Myer; First United Church of ChristPastor, Rev. Dan Weyand-Geise; and author and scholar RabbiRamiShapiro, who will be the featured speaker at an event next Monday night at First United Church titled, ?The Glorious, Wondrous, and Oh So Dangerous Work of Authentic Interfaith Conversation.?

The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), which is part of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati, in partnership with First United Church of Christ will present ?The Glorious, Wondrous, and Oh So Dangerous Work of Authentic Interfaith Conversation? at the First United Church of Christ in College Hill, on Monday, February 22, at 6:30 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by the Edward B.Brueggeman Center for Dialogueat Xavier University, the Metropolitan Area Religious Coalition of Cincinnati (MARCC), and the Islamic Community Center of Cincinnati.
