How To Talk To Teens About Substance Abuse

Provided
Program offers information on how to talk with teens about the dangers of substance abuse.

A 2016 report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed those aged 12 to 20 years drink 11 percent of all alcohol consumed in the United States. And according to the National Institute of Health, young adults age 18 to 25 are the biggest abusers of prescription opioid pain relievers, ADHD stimulants, and anti-anxiety drugs.

This Thursday evening, Jewish Family Service is offering a program to talk with teens about substance abuse. TBH: The Truth about Alcohol and Drug Use was designed to help teens make informed decisions about using, mixing, and sharing alcohol and drugs.

Joining us for a preview of the program and to discuss substance abuse among young adults is Medical Director of the Child Psychiatry Unit at Cincinnati Children's, Dr. Daniel Nelson.

TBH: The Truth about Alcohol and Drug Use is presented by Jewish Family Service in partnership with Amberley Village Police and Fire, the Hamilton County Heroin Coalition, and the Lumiere Healing Center. The program will take place this Thursday, December 7, from  7 to 9 p.m. at the Mayerson JCC. The event is free. For more information and registration, click here.
