Kings Island is bringing back antique cars in Spring 2019.

The antique cars are coming back to Kings Island. The amusement park announced Thursday the popular ride will return for 2019.General Manager Mike Koontz says the cars will be near the Racer roller coaster in the Coney Mall.

The new Kings Mills Antique Autos will have 18 cars similar to the old ones but a newer model. They'll be two-third scale replicas of the 1911 Ford Model T.

The ride will be a quarter-mile in length "taking guests on a three-minute journey through lush landscaping, water features, a covered bridge and more," Koontz says.

The announcement comes on the 14th anniversary of the ride being closed.

"Antique cars has been one of the most requested rides for Kings Island to bring back," Koontz says. "It was here from the beginning of the park opening until 14 years ago. It's a classic."

He thinks the appeal is part nostalgia and part the excitement of young kids being able to drive a car with their parents and grandparents in tow.

Koontz dismissed rumors the theme park is planning a new roller coaster, saying it doesn't have any plans at the moment.

"We don't open flashy roller coasters every year."
