For Cincinnati Vice Mayor David Mann, the proclamation he presented Wednesday at City Hall was very personal. Mayor John Cranley honored Mann's mother, Faye, who will celebrate her 100th birthday Thursday.
Thursday will be "Faye Mann Day in Cincinnati."
She was born October 19, 1917, in rural Kentucky. She met her husband, Henry, in college and eventually came to Northern Kentucky where Henry was a teacher in Covington.
Henry and Faye also lived in New York City and Charleston, S.C. before returning to Northern Kentucky in the 1940's.
They had two children, David and Patricia. There are also five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The proclamation describes Faye as "an outstanding homemaker, champion bridge player and trusted friend."
She now lives in Cincinnati, and the Vice Mayor is hopeful she will cast a vote for him in next month's election.
