As a new strain of coronavirus (COVID-19) swept through the world in 2020, preparedness plans, masking policies and more public policy changed just as quickly. WVXU has covered the pandemic's impact on the Tri-State from the very beginning, when on March 3, 2020, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine barred spectators from attending the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus over concerns about the virus, even though Ohio had yet to confirm a single case of COVID-19.

Live Call-In Specials On COVID-19

Minnesota Public Radio News' Kerri Miller will host a live call-in special on COVID-19. The special will occur over two days at 2 p.m. Audiences across the nation are invited to call in and ask medical and public health professionals their hard questions.

  • Wednesday, March 18: Kerri is joined by guests from the Mayo Clinic to talk about the science of treating COVID-19  - the challenges medical professionals are facing, what they know about the spread, and their plans for stopping it.
  • Thursday, March 19: In partnership with WABE in Atlanta, GA (home of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) there will be a special centered around public health.
