Later this year L’Oréal USA, in partnership with Scenic Hill Solar, will install thousands of solar panels at its Florence plant, a project the company says will be the largest commercial solar array in Kentucky.

CEO of L’Oréal Americas Fréderic Rozé says, "We are committed to being a sustainability leader in the United States and are proud of the progress we have made.”

The panels are designed to:

  • Reduce CO2 emissions by 80 percent and achieve 100 percent renewable energy.
  • Cut CO2 emissions in Kentucky by 1,195 metric tons annually, equivalent to eliminating over 2.8 million miles traveled by cars each year (according to EPA Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies).

“With this project, our facility becomes an emblem of sustainable manufacturing” said Eric Wolff, L’Oréal’s Florence Plant Manager. “We’re proud to be leading the way for commercial renewable energies in Kentucky.”

The Florence plant, operational for more than 25 years, makes hair care products for the Garnier, L’Oréal Paris, Matrix, and Redken brands. It is the company's largest manufacturing site in the U.S. and its largest worldwide by tonnage of products produced.

L’Oréal is also building a large-scale solar project at another of its plants in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
