Oxford fire investigators are trying to figure out what caused Miami University's Swing Hall to catch fire Monday afternoon. Fire Chief John Detherage told WMOH a roofing crew was soldering the gutters.
Spokeswoman Claire Wagner was on the scene and reported damage to the attic and roof area on one end of the building. She says there were no students in the residence hall because they are out for the summer.
Miami's electronic heat and smoke monitoring system notified campus police and the facilities staff of the smoke and increased temperature. There were no reported injuries.
The University tweeted this out around 1p.m. Monday:
Swng Hall Fire :: Fire reported at Swing Hall. Please stay out of the area.

Detherage told WMOH two-thirds of the roof in the U-shaped area of the building will have to be replaced.
