A City of Cincinnati lawsuit against the Alms Hill Apartments in Walnut Hills is continuing. City Attorney Mark Manning says five other apartment complexes around the city have been added to the suit as well. At issue are numerous health and safety violations, along with an increase in criminal activity.The five additional properties are: Entowne Manor in North Avondale, Burton Estates in North Avondale, Reeds Valley in Westwood, Shelton Gardens in Westwood, and St. Claire Manor in Avondale.
Manning says a new management team is in place, but ownership remains the same. While some things improved for about a month, he says "Over the last two months or so, things have regressed back to where they were, if not worse."
Problems include faulty exposed wiring, cracked walls, missing smoke detectors, bedbugs, mold, roaches, and water damage.
Charles Williams lives at Entowne Manor. "We're crying out for help," he says. "There's a lot of elderly people in there and there's a lot of things they need fixed and they're not fixing them."
Residents also say they're scared for their lives because outsiders are getting inside the buildings and causing problems.
A trial date is set for December 16 and 17.
