Hamilton County is experiencing a spike in sexual assault calls and a rash of domestic violence incidents that resulted in three deaths in October. Seven individuals have lost their lives in Hamilton County this year due to domestic violence homicide.
To reduce this loss of life, Women Helping Women and the Cincinnati Police Department will begin a new program in January 2018 to jointly respond to domestic violence calls and institute services on the scene.
The new protocol, named DVERT (Domestic Violence Emergency Response Team) was created with a funding from the Ohio Attorney General's Office.
