Cincinnati Parks has plans to make the region look good for the All-Star Game in July.  Parks director Willie Carden says the park district will increase the number of flowers around Great American Ball Park, including in the planters above Fort Washington Way. There will also be a floral display in Smale Riverfront Park arranged to look like the All-Star logo.

“You may have already seen the park dug up," Carden says.  "We’re putting the actual logo in the park.” Carden says the display will look good from the viewpoint of blimps expected for television coverage.

He says big flower pots decorated with logos of all the Major League Baseball teams will line the streets around Great American Ball Park. These are the same flower pots used during the World Choir Games. Carden says after the All-Star Game, the pots will auctioned to recoup the redecorating costs.

All-Star Weekend is July 10 through 14.
