Permanent Cincinnati Police Chief Announcement Coming

City of Cincinnati

Cincinnati City Manager Harry Black will name a permanent police chief Thursday at 10:30 a.m.  City Council passed an ordinance Wednesday changing the pay scale for the position. It's believed that's the last hurdle for interim police chief Eliot Isaac to take the job.

Mayor John Cranley supports that decision. "I do support Chief Isaac and this ordinance is necessary to his being made the permanent chief."

The new maximum salary for the police and fire chiefs will be $165,000.  It used to be about $140,000.

Black said earlier this week the lower pay scale could limit his ability to name a new police chief.  The city manager announced last month that Isaac was his preferred candidate for the permanent job.
