Books By The Banks 2019

The 13th Annual Books By The Banks Cincinnati USA Book Festival will be held Saturday, October 26 the Duke Energy Convention Center in downtown Cincinnati. Along with more than 100 authors who will talk with patrons and sign copies of their books, there will be author panels and discussions; a kids zone and teen scene with a variety of activities and entertainment; sponsor tables; and an onsite bookstore from Joseph Beth Booksellers.Cincinnati Public Radio will have a table - stop by and say hi to the hosts and staff, sign-up to win a CD or other prize, and let us know what you think about our stations! Prior to World Down Syndrome Day, Paul Daugherty joins us to talk about his daughter & his new book

Jillian Daugherty was born with Down syndrome. Her father, Paul Daugherty, long-time sports columnist for The Cincinnati Enquirer, has just published a book about Jillian and their family. In ?AnUncomplicated Life: A Father's Memoir of His Exceptional Daughter,? he tells stories about Jillian?'s challenges and triumphs, boundless capacity for joy, and what we can all learn from her approach to life. Approximately 400,000 Americans have Down syndrome, and about 6,000 babies with Down syndrome are born in the United States each year. Paul Daugherty joins us to share his family'?s experiences and discuss Down syndrome, along with Krissy Vinson, volunteer and communications coordinator with the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati, and Jennifer Bekins, a speech-language pathologist with the Thomas Center for Down Syndrome Services at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
