Rand Paul to headline Hamilton County GOP event

Sen. Rand Paul, the Kentucky Republican who has hinted at a possible run for the presidency in 2016, will be the featured speaker next month at the Northeast Hamilton County Republican Club's annual pancake breakfast.

Paul - the son of former Libertarian and GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul - has been dropping broad hints about 2016, but that year is also the year when his U.S. Senate seat is up for re-election. And, under Kentucky election law, Paul would have to choose one or the other.

But Paultold the Associated Pressthat he would definitely be a candidate for re-election to the Senate in 2016. He said he has yet to look into the possibility of getting Kentucky election law changed to allow him to run for both offices.

The club's 14th annual pancake breakfast is at the Sharonville Convention Center on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 28. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Tickets for the event are $20 for individuals, $45 for families and $200 to buy a table.

Tickets for the event are available at the club's website, www.nehcrc.com.
