The Appalachian Studies Association Conference: Re-stitching the Seams: Appalachia Beyond Its Borders starts April 5 downtown.

Next month, Cincinnati will host the41st Annual Appalachian Studies Association Conference: Re-stitching the Seams: Appalachia Beyond Its Borders, sponsored by the Urban Appalachian Community Coalition. Nearly 40 percent of the population in our region is of Appalachian descent.

Joining us from the Appalachian Community Coalition to discuss Greater Cincinnati's Appalachian heritage and the upcoming conference are Coalition core members Nancy Laird, Mike Maloney and Pauletta Hansel, who was namedCincinnati's first Poet Laureate in 2016; and Coalition volunteer, writer and Owner ofE.Y. Ink, Elissa Yancey.
