Submit Tips Anonymously With New Cincinnati Police Mobile App

Cincinnati Police are now accepting tips through the department's just-launched mobile app.

Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot Isaac says the new app is similar to using Crime Stoppers but doesn't seek to replace it.

"One of the best things about this is that users can submit tips directly to detectives and investigators and they're completely anonymous," Isaac says. "They can also include text messages, photos and videos to alert those officers in the field."

Users can track tips they submit and communicate back and forth with police if there are questions, or if they have more information.

The system uses the Tip 411 encrypted structure, so reports are anonymous and secure.

"We have a new generation of adults and they use social media more than ever before," Isaac says. "Absolutely, I think we're getting more information that way, and I think as we continue to work on building great relationships, that's the opportunity to get more information coming in as well."

Isaac says the app isn't meant to function like the Fix It Cincy app, so don't send in your pothole problems. He says this is also a good time to sign up for Smart 911 as well.
