Artist Philip Short prepares to take his sculpture "Re:" back to North Carolina.

Remember that C-shaped arrow in Washington Park? Well, it's out of here.

Artist Philip Short loaded it up on a small trailer Wednesday afternoon and began the drive back to North Carolina.

But not without answering a few questions from WVXU listeners.

Short says the design was, in fact, inspired by the green, three-arrow recycling emblem. He calls his piece - titled "Re:" - a fresh take on the recycling logo.

He was pleased to learn that several listeners suggested the piece be permanently installed in Washington Park. As for the artwork's fate? It's for sale. Short says he's hoping someone will buy it.

As for what's next for the artist, he still has two semesters left on his sculpture degree from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He already has a degree in painting.
