The investigative reporting wars are heating up in Cincinnati with the hiring of an award-winning journalist by a second TV station this month.
WKRC-TV has added Duane Pohlman, who has won more than 100 national, regional and state awards, according to his Channel 12 biography.
"He will co-anchor weekends (with Meghan Mongillo), as well as his investigative reporter duties," says Jon Lawhead, Sinclair Broadcast Group manager for Channels 12, 12.2, 64 and Dayton’s Channels 22 and 45. (Lawhead also says Channel 12 will unveil its new news set next week.)
Pohlman fills the vacancy advertised last spring. He came to town about the same time that WCPO-TV hired Craig Cheathamfrom St. Louis as its I-Team executive producer and reporter.
Pohlman has been named "Reporter of the Year" five times in three states: Three times by Ohio Associated Press and the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists; once by the Radio-Television News Directors Director of the Carolinas; and the Virginia AP, Channel 12 says.
The 1987 Bowling Green State University graduate attended Delphos St. John's High School in Delphos, OH, northwest of Lima. He has worked for TV stations in Cleveland, Seattle, Milwaukee, Raleigh and Fort Wayne.
