Low-power WOTH-TV (Channel 20) has picked up the Newsmax channel, which will provide live over-the-air coverage of the South Carolina primary results Saturday.

CEO Elliott Block says he’s pre-empting Access Media Group (AMGTV) shows on multiplex Channel 20.5 to air Newsmax programs 5-10 p.m. weekdays.

Newsmaxalso will provide Channel 20.5 with breaking news, starting with South Carolina primary results beginning 6:30 p.m. Saturday, says Block, CEO and general manager of Block Broadcasting. WVXU-FM (91.7) also will broadcast NPR's coverage of South Carolina results starting 7 p.m. Saturday.

“With this election, and national and world events, the viewers want to be informed. WOTH will be airing 25 hours a week of live news in prime time,” Block said in the station announcement.

The new schedule features “Newsmax Live” (5 p.m.), “The Hard Line” (6 p.m.), “The Steve Malzburg Show”  (7 p.m.), “Newsmax Prime” (8 p.m.) and Dennis Michael Lynch’s “Unfiltered” (9 p.m.). They replace “Planet X” (6 p.m.), “Forensic Files (7 p.m.),  “Leverage” (8 p.m.) and “Republic of Doyle” (9 p.m.).

“With more and more people ‘cutting the (cable) cord,’ WOTH believes teaming up with Newsmax will be of great interest and value to the viewers in Greater Cincinnati,” Block said in the release.

WOTHcan be received on Channel 20 by digital TV owners with an antenna in much of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
