An Ohio developer is accused of building apartment houses and not conforming with the Fair Housing Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. The U.S. District Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio and the Department of Justice filed suit against Miller-Valentine Operations for violating the FHA and the ADA in 13 states.

With Ohio's medical marijuana program scheduled to go into effect later this year, questions are being raised about how companies will treat employees and potential employees who use marijuana as medicine.

Creating Opportunities For Disability Inclusion

Those with disabilities may have a more difficult time finding work, establishing housing and fitting into a community. Programs such as Living Arrangements for the Developmentally Disabled (LADD) help with all of those needs. This allows for individuals to live the lives they want without their disabilities getting in the way.

On July 26, 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act into law, with a goal of creating equal opportunities for people with disabilities through inclusion in the workplace, in schools, and in the community. As the nation celebrates the Americans with Disabilities Act’'s 25th anniversary, we discuss the legal, societal and personal aspects of the law.

In recognition of the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, signed into law by President George H.W. Bush on July 26, 1990, we continue our discussion of the ADA and its affect on the daily lives of individuals and families.
