Thane Maynard welcomes Craig Young and his son, Michael, to talk about a new mobile app they have created called myactions.org to not only increase environmentally positive behaviors, but to also raise needed funds for the Cincinnati Zoo and other environmental organizations.

ZEROlandfill Cincinnati is back for a fifth year. The recycling initiative makes design samples and materials available to artists, teachers, students, or anyone who's interested.

The group says the goal is to divert waste from area landfills and promote material re-purposing. It says more than 130,000 pounds of waste has been diverted over the past four years.

Plant Trial Days

The 2012 Plant Trials Day at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens is August 29. Hundreds of Master Gardeners, industry professionals, garden clubs and homeowners will gather to learn about the Zoo’s plant trialing program. Mark Perzel welcomes in Scott Beuerlein from the Cincinnati Zoo to discuss the program, which sold out early last year.

E-waste recycling tomorrow

Hamilton County residents have recycled more than 68,000 pounds of e-waste since the May 1 start of a computer and TV recycling program.  The Recycling and Solid Waste District's free drop-off program is open August 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the CSI/Republic Transfer Station at 10751 Evendale Drive. 

The program won't be open any other Saturday in August, but it is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. through October 31, excluding holidays.   There will also be weekend collection times on September 8 and October 13.
