One year ago, Hollywood rolled into Middletown so director Ron Howard could film the final week of Hillbilly Elegy.

Oscar-winners Glenn Close and Amy Adams were joined by Gabriel Basso, Jesse C. Boyd, Haley Bennett, Bo Hopkins and Owen Asztalos shooting scenes on Harrison Street in the 100-year-old Park Place neighborhood.

Seven-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close made her Middletown film debut in a most unglamorous way – chain-smoking cigarettes while wearing an oversized pink T-shirt and blue printed pajama pants.

Hillbilly Elegy production crews have spent the weekend in Middletown preparing to film scenes in the hometown of author J.D. Vance starting Monday.

After "Miles Ahead" comes "A Kind of Murder." The Jessica Biel movie also filmed in Cincinnati in 2014 premieres at New York's Tribeca Film Festival on Sunday April 17, two days after Don Cheadle's "Miles Ahead" arrives in local theaters.

Biel, Patrick Wilson and Haley Bennett star in "A Kind of Murder," which was called "The Blunderer" when shot here in November and December 2014.
