Ohio Democrats are calling on President Trump to keep his promises. Ahead of Trump's appearance in Cincinnati Thursday night, state party chair David Pepper says the Brent Spence Bridge remains untouched, despite a 2016 pledge to replace it.

Negotiations over a new soccer stadium for FC Cincinnati continue. The club reached an agreement with local arts associations over noise issues at Music Hall but has not yet struck a deal with the Cincinnati Ballet over a parking lot. And Cincinnati City Council approved a land swap deal with the team this week but put off a vote on a development plan and zoning change. That delay is holding up stadium construction.

Cincinnati's latest infrastructure report lists the Western Hills Viaduct in poor condition, raising concerns about whether the bridge is safe to drive on.

The off-ramp overpass that fell onto the southbound lanes of I-75 Monday night did not cause a lot of damage to the highway. 

That doesn't surprise Andrew Hermann, past president of the American Society of Civil Engineers, who has been following the story.  But he says the fact that the span did fall was surprising.

“Generally, they have demolition plans where they try to take into account all the possibilities as they’re taking down a bridge, to do it safely," Hermann said.  "So it was very surprising to hear that it collapsed."
