President Joe Biden is nominating the executive director of Miami University's Myaamia Center to the National Council on the Humanities. Daryl Baldwin has been a driving force behind the center for decades and is a citizen of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma.

More than two decades before this month's announcements from a Cincinnati-area high school and the Washington D.C. NFL team, Miami University's Board of Trustees voted to drop a controversial, race-based nickname and mascot. The Miami Tribe of Oklahoma and Miami University are taking a moment now to talk about that decision.

Fourth grade is when Ohio students learn about state history, usually focused on just that - history. Now a curriculum developed by Miami University and the Myaamia Center focusing on the modern-day culture and imagery of the Miami Nation is being added.

Miami University professor Daryl Baldwin is a 2016 MacArthur Fellow, more commonly known as a 'genius grant' recipient. Baldwin is Director of Miami's Myaamia Center and a leader in Native American language and cultural revitalization.
