Editor's note: Cincinnati movie expert Margaret McGurk screened Robert Redford's The Old Man & The Gun for me last month while I was recovering from knee replacement surgery. McGurk, the former Enquirer movie critic, has also reported on films for WCPO-TV, WXIX-TV and WKRQ-FM.

The early reviews are quite positive for a trio of movies filmed in Cincinnati – Robert Redford's The Old Man & The Gun, the backwoods Donnybrook fight and Emilio Estevez's The Public.

All three were screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, which ends Sunday Sept. 16.

Oscar-winning actor Robert Redford says he retiring from acting after completing The Old Man And The Gun shot in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky last year. The film opens in theaters Sept. 28.

“Never say never, but I pretty well concluded that this would be it for me in terms of acting, and [I’ll] move towards retirement after this ’cause I’ve been doing it since I was 21," Redford tells Entertainment Weekly.

Three weeks after Gillian Anderson's "UFO" debuts Sept. 4 on digital and DVD, Robert Redford's "The Old Man And The Gun" premieres in theaters.

Filming resumes today in Dayton on "The Old Man and The Gun," starring Robert Redford, Danny Glover, Casey Affleck and Sissy Spacek.

Second Street in downtown Dayton, between Ludlow and Wilkinson streets, will be closed for a second consecutive day for the movie production, according to Dayton news reports. It is scheduled to reopen at 7 p.m. today, Tuesday May 2.
