The end of November will bring the traditional visit by holiday favorites, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, for two performances at both U.S. Bank Arena (November 29) and Dayton's Nutter Center (November 30.) President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are planning an Aug. 1 re-election campaign rally at Cincinnati's US Bank Arena - which raises the question of why they are stumping here so early in the campaign. Trump did not win either Hamilton County or Cincinnati in 2016. WVXU's Senior Political Analyst, Howard Wilkinson, told News Director Maryanne Zeleznik that his real audience is in not in Cincinnati, but in the suburban and rural counties which surround it.

This year many nationally known musicians will be making stops in the Greater Cincinnati area.  Tours have already been booked at Memorial Hall, Riverbend, U.S. Bank Arena, and the Rose Music Center at The Heights. 

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra is also presenting their annual "Classical Roots" concert in honor of International Women's Day on Friday, March 8th at Music Hall.  And, country legend Mickey Gilley is bringing his Urban Cowboy Reunion Show to the Belterra Casino Resort on Saturday, March 9th with Johnny Lee.

Hamilton County Commissioners are looking at whether the county can afford to contribute to two proposed sports venues. FC Cincinnati wants a new soccer stadium and US Bank Arena's owners are planning renovations to that facility.

Cirque du Soleil is returning to Cincinnati with its unique style of acrobatics, gymnastics, dance and theatre. 

Cirque du Soleil is bringing their production of Ovo back to Cincinnati from May 11 - 14 at US Bank Arena. 

A crowd that Donald Trump estimated at 21,000 stomped and hollered and cheered their hero Thursday night as he assailed "crooked Hillary Clinton" over and over again.

"The corruption of the Clintons know no limits,'' Trump said in a 45-minute US Bank Arena speech Thursday night.

"She's highly overrated; she couldn't pass her bar exam in Washington, D.C.,'' Trump said. "Highly overrated person."

Clinton, Trump said, is "a corrupt person….she should be locked up. She should."

New Security measures are in place at U.S. Bank Arena.  Starting with the Blake Shelton Concert Thursday, ticket holders will have to walk through metal detectors and large bags and purses will be limited to 12 by 12 by six inches.

Cirque du Soleil will bring its newest touring show, Toruk: The First Flight (Inspired by James Cameron’s “Avatar”), to Cincinnati’s US Bank Arena starting May 4, 2016.

In the end, Cincy2016, the group trying to bring the 2016 Republican National Convention to Cincinnati, had just about everything they needed to host such a massive event.

Everything except an arena capable of holding the convention.

Hotel space? Check. Transportation for delegates and guests? Check. Plenty of amenities such as bars and restaurants within walking distance of downtown hotels? Check.

But the 40-year-old U.S. Bank Arena – plenty big enough for a minor league hockey team, circuses, ice shows and hard rock concerts – just couldn’t cut the mustard.
