Penn State Suffers Defeat On Top Of Scandal
School spirit at Penn State was dealt another blow Saturday when it lost its last home game of the football season to Nebraska. The loss comes just days after the firing of the university's iconic head coach Joe Paterno and the arrest of former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky on 40 counts of abusing young boys. NPR's Jeff Brady reports on the game's aftermath.

This weekend's Art of Cool Festival in Durham, N.C., aims to expand the audience for improvised music. So it's booked performers from modern R&B, hip-hop and beyond with deep jazz influences.
The High School Marching Band From Cody, Wyoming
will participate after all in President Clinton's inauguration. The school mistook a nomination to march in the inaugural parade for an official invitation. After learning of their disappointment yesterday, the President asked the band to attend.

Dave Holland, Working Some Big-Band 'Overtime'
This spring, bassist and composer Dave Holland has been touring with his Big Band, and he's released a new recording with the ensemble. The CD is called Overtime, and it's out on his own label, Dare2Records. Holland tells Liane Hansen about swinging with a big-band sound.

Kathleen Hanna and Johanna Fateman of the Band, Le Tigre
Kathleen Hanna and Johanna Fateman of the band, Le Tigre. Hanna was the lead singer of the 90s band Bikini Kill. Bikini Kill was part of the music/cultural/feminist movement know as Riot Grrl, which focused on the concept of 'girl power' and young women's empowerment. The movement was based primarily in Washington, DC and Olympia, WA, and its members formed bands, wrote fanzines, and held meetings, protests and festivals. Hanna was a leader and spokesperson for the movement. Her first solo project after Bikini Kill was called Julie Ruin. She then formed Le Tigre. Bandmate Fateman is an artist and zine writer. Le Tigre's new eponymous CD, released by the Mr Lady Label, combines pop, punk and feminism.

A new generation of wireless medical sensors mounted on an adhesive strip can call a doctor and transmit key data when they detect a problem. But federal regulators, who want to make sure the technology is safe, have yet to iron out regulations for these devices.
