Nelson Carlo de los Santos Arias, winner of the Silver Bear for best director at the 2024 Berlin Film Festival for his film Pepe and the first Latin American director to ever win this prize, will be in Cincinnati for two events on Thursday, September 4.

The first, Studies of the Imagination, is an in depth conversation with University of Cincinnati film professor Mary Leonard about his unique experimental approach to filmmaking that will allow audiences to get to know the filmmaker before the screening of his film Pepe at the Esquire Theater at 7 pm the same day. The conversation will take place in the Faculty Enrichment Center on the second floor of Langsam Library, University of Cincinnati, from 12:30 – 1:50 pm, and is free and open to the public.
