Day/Night Astronomy Event at the Cincinnati Astronomical Society

Day/Night Astronomy Event at the Cincinnati Astronomical Society

Join us for a day/night astronomy event at the Cincinnati Astronomical Society. Visit our headquarters located on the West side of Cincinnati near Cleves, Ohio, beginning at 4PM, for tours of our observatories, and safe viewing of the nearest start to Earth; the sun!.

Learn about the two upcoming solar eclipses while safely viewing the sun through our historic Alvan Clark refractor made in 1880. See solar flares and prominences and other solar details until sunset.

In the evening we open our other observatories to guests to see views of Saturn, and the waxing gibbous moon. Toward the end of the evening we will show views of Jupiter as well as star clusters and nebulae.
All ages welcome. Property is not conducive for wheelchairs or strollers but we may be able to accommodate them. Please no pets as leashes become a tripping hazard in the dark. Viewing through most of our observatories typically requires standing on a ladder.

5274 Zion Rd Cleves Ohio, 45002. Saturday September 23rd, 4PM - 11PM.

We will also be selling solar-safe glasses for use during the October 2023 partial eclipse and the 2024 total solar eclipse for $5 each.
