Great Parks Out of this World
Great Parks Out of this World
Springtime stars take center stage as Great Parks hosts two nights of gazing at the evening skies during the Out of this World program, starting at 7 p.m. on both April 5 and 6, at the Seasongood Nature Center at Woodland Mound.
Woodland Mound is known for its spectacular views of the Ohio River Valley below, but on this evening, guests will be looking up.
Great Parks interpreters will be on hand to celebrate all things space, as guests will learn from a planetarium and a walk-through demonstration of the solar system, while launching water-powered rockets, peering through telescopes and exploring constellations.
A sensory-friendly portion of the program is available from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, April 6. Guests can schedule time to enjoy the experiences planned for the evening program by using a laminated sheet and images of each activity. Music will be turned off, and sensory-friendly items will be available such as weight blankets to cover up with and items for guests to squeeze. A social narrative, which is an evidence-based learning tool, will be available for the sensory-friendly program. Guests can receive it by emailing eastregionprograms@greatparks.org.
Out of This World takes place from 7-9:30 p.m. on both Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6. Planetarium presentations require pre-registration at greatparks.org and cost $2/guest. All other activities are free and continue throughout the event.
