Taste of the Land-A Foraged and Farmed Dinner at Long Branch Farm and Trails

Taste of the Land-A Foraged and Farmed Dinner at Long Branch Farm and Trails

Registration Requirements: Preregistration required.

Intended Audience: Adults interested in food, CNC's conservation efforts, foraging/farmed native foods, and/or farming.

Program Description: We’ll let the land speak through food during this partially participatory progressive dinner. Drawing on culinary inspiration from around the globe and throughout time, you’ll experience the story of the land through food. Part cooking demo infused with natural history, part farm tour spiced with storytelling…it’s one big celebration of native plants.

From history of land use, to our current work, to the vision for the future of Long Branch Farm & Trails, you’ll be able to taste how we work with the land to create hyper-local foraged, wild tended, and farmed native foods. This experience includes a walking tour of our native perennial polyculture plots.

About the Instructors: Led by CNC conservation and programming staff.

What to Expect: This is a cooking station-based progressive meal experience. Participants will be able to make the rounds, sampling food bites, talk with staff and volunteers about the purpose, methods, and goals of our foraging and farming of native species efforts, and have the opportunity to get to know other participants. For those interested, there will be some optional activities involving harvesting, food prep, etc.

Trails/areas used during this program are rated as easy (mild hills, gravel trails) for a planned distance of less than 1/2 mile at a slow pace.
Restrooms are available throughout the program.
The experience is focused around an old barn and two large native garden plots—the terrain is mostly flat.
Program runs rain or shine.
What to Wear: Dress to be out and about on a farm, and dress for the weather (it may cool down in the evening). Sturdy footwear is advised.

Where to Meet: Registered participants will meet at the Creekside Barn at our Long Branch Farm & Trails location. (6926 Gaynor Rd, Goshen, OH 45122)

Cost: Ticket fees include daily admission.
