The Best of Broadway with the Cincinnati Civic Orchestra
Please join the Cincinnati Civic Orchestra for our summer pops concert titled “The Best of Broadway”. The concert will feature music from the first Broadway musical, Showboat and the music from the classic Brigadoon, a fairy tale set in the Scottish Highlands. The performance will include the beloved The Sound of Music, Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story, and the longest running Broadway show, Phantom of the Opera, that opened in 1988 and recently closed in April 2023. The orchestra will also perform music from the Pulitzer Prize winning A Chorus Line and the music from Les Misérables, based on the classic novel by Victor Hugo. The concert will conclude with the stirring music from Ragtime.
The Cincinnati Civic Orchestra is one of our nation’s oldest all-volunteer symphony orchestras, performing its 94th season of free concerts for appreciative audiences throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. The Cincinnati Civic Orchestra Music Director is Laurence Bonhaus who is celebrating his 50th year with the orchestra and 39th as Music Director, previously serving as Concertmaster.
