Learn the basics of the most romantic of the Romance languages! This in-person course will offer a foundation of French pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar designed to make sense to American beginners. We will incorporate practice from the prior class in each session for retention and understanding while learning a new area of the language. Students will become acquainted with contemporary French culture and geography and develop basic conversational skills useful for travel and everyday situations, in an informal, encouraging atmosphere in a spacious classroom. Please purchase the book before the start of class.

This is a great introduction to tai chi. You will get all of the fundamentals with this easy to learn short set of moves appropriate for people of all ages and fitness levels. The slow gentle movements are ideal for building strength no matter what your previous activity level. The emphasis on breathing, posture, and a relaxed mental focus can be beneficial to practitioners at all abilities. Be assured that most people face a bit of a learning curve when they begin tai chi classes, but this focus on new and unfamiliar movement is also why tai chi has so many benefits for both the mind and the body.

With live drumming, this class will teach you the fundamentals of traditional West African dance with an emphasis on an understanding of the accompanying drum rhythms. Classes start with a thorough warm-up, followed by a sequence of movements across the floor. The session runs for 45 minutes, with time reserved for Q&A.
All skill levels are welcome. Attendees are encouraged to wear tights, loose tops, tank tops; wrappers and lapas are optional. Recommended for ages 13+ Free for Taft members, $5 for non-members. Museum admission sold separately.

Mark your calendars - you’ve got a Date with Jane! Join us for a cocktail class led by Molly Wellman, who will be teaching you how to build three cocktails featuring Findlay Market ingredients. One cocktail will feature her Cincinnati Gin, a collaboration between Molly, The Krohn Conservatory and Northern Row. The evening begins at Findlay Kitchen, where guests will be greeted with a glass of champagne and light bites from Findlay Market Merchants, and ends at Northern Row Distillery with a closer look at their Five Stories Spirits lineup.
TicketsTickets are $60 and include a welcome beverage, light bites, and all cocktails consumed during the class.

In this art class for the preschool set (ages 2-4), we will read and explore a different picture book each week and then make our own art inspired by the story using a variety of materials. Dress to allow for a mess! Grownups must stay with their young artists during the class.
All classes take place at The Upside Brew (329 Ludlow Avenue): arrive early to purchase coffee before class begins!

Learn from the 2022 Golden Ticket Winner, Leslie Getz, as she shares her phototransfer technique. In this one-time workshop, students will create a self-portrait utilizing Leslie’s techniques paired with mixed media.
