April showers bring May cancellations.  Yes, it's that time of the year when TV network executives are figuring out which low-rated or long-running series should be replaced by new shows.

According to USA Today, on the bubble are "The Grinder," "Grandfathered," "Castle," "Nashville," "The Odd Couple," "Sleepy Hollow" and "The X-Files."

Also at risk are NBC's "Telenovela" with Delhi Township native Diana Maria Riva; Fox's "Rosewood" with College Hill native Gabrielle Dennis; and Fox's "Second Chance" with Alexandria's Ciara Bravo.

Before we welcome 2016, let’s look back at this year in TV, movies, radio and media from A to Z.

Fox Broadcasting

After roles on BET, CW, Spike TV and Showtime, College Hill native Gabrielle Dennis says she’s having “super fun” on the biggest acting role of her TV career on Fox’s new “Rosewood” medical drama.

The 1996 Hughes Center graduate plays Pippy, younger sister of Dr. Beaumont Rosewood (star Morris Chestnut) on “Rosewood” (8 p.m. Wednesdays, Fox).

She’s a toxicology expert in Rosewood’s sophisticated private autopsy lab in Miami, and the one who nags him about missing family dinners with mom (Lorraine Toussaint) and getting tickets for running red lights.

The 2015-16 TV season arrives this week with many of your returning favorites and most of the highly anticipated new series: “Scream Queens,” “The Muppets,” “Heroes Reborn,” “Limitless” and “The Player.”

The first week ends Sunday with a goodbye to a long-time favorite, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” in a two-hour CBS movie.

Below is my list of new fall series (titles in bold italic) and returning shows this week. All returning series are season premieres, unless noted.

If your favorite show doesn’t return this week, here’s my list of Fall TV premiere dates.

It’s hard to settle on any one trend for the 2015-2016 TV season. Pick one:

SUPER HEROES: Get ready for more super heroes: NBC’s “Heroes Reborn” and CBS’ “Supergirl” join “Gotham,” “Arrow,” “The Flash” and “Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”  By next spring you’ll also see “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” on the CW, and more of ABC’s “Marvel's Agent Carter.”

REVIVALS: Prepare for more revivals: “The Muppets” (ABC) and “Heroes Reborn” (NBC) this fall, and reboots of “The X-Files,” (Fox), “Fuller House” (Netflix), “Twin Peaks” (Showtime) and more of “The Odd Couple” (CBS) early next year.

MOVIE ADAPTATIONS: Watch how big-screen movies get revamped for the big screen in your home: CBS’ “Limitless,” from the 2011 Bradley Cooper film about the pill which enhances brain power, and a new version of Stephen Spielberg’s “Minority Report” (Fox). Coming to TV at midseason are “Rush Hour” (CBS) and “Uncle Buck” (ABC).

SPIN-OFFS: You’ve got to have a spin-off, and NBC has one.
