Miami County

Some people find it hard to believe, but there was a time early in my career that I was known to the public as primarily a humor columnist.

It's true. From 1977 to 1982, at the Troy Daily News, I had a column that ran in the Sunday magazine section called And Another Thing…Don't ask me how, but it became wildly popular in Troy; aside from the sport pages, it may have been the most read thing in the paper.

Beats me how it happened. But it made me a celebrity of sorts in that small town in western Ohio.

Attorney and former WLW-AM weekend talk show host Lisa Wells has pleaded guilty to four felony counts of drug possession to enter an "in lieu of conviction" treatment program in Miami County Common Pleas Court in Troy, Ohio.

The West Chester Township resident was stopped for "driving recklessly" on Interstate 75 near Piqua, north of Dayton, on Jan. 25, 2016.

Now we know why attorney Lisa Wenzel Wells has not hosted her Saturday  WLW-AM talk show for three weeks:  She was charged with five counts of drug possession, and operating a vehicle under the influence, on Jan. 25 on I-75 north of Dayton.

Wells, 37, of West Chester Township, was arrested at 8:20 p.m. Monday Jan. 25 on I-75 near Piqua by Ohio State Highway Patrol officer Eric Dever, who was investigating a complaint of a vehicle driving recklessly, according to his report.
